Hello World (Again)

A hand-drawn map: a winding path from START to TODAY, with a small sketch beside each milestone — an oil derrick for PETRONAS in 1995, a computer for iPerintis in 2000, an upward chart for the CDC turnaround in 2002, a briefcase for A.T. Kearney in 2006, a laptop for the blog beginning in 2007, a camera for Right Eye in 2010, a stack of research papers for the master's at Sunway in 2022, a graduation cap for Harvard CS50 in 2025, a code bracket for joining AI Malaysia in 2025, and a small building for rezaali.my in 2026.

Hi there, and thanks for dropping by.

I’ve kept a blog in one form or another since 2007. A few versions have come and gone. This is the latest. It’s odd, in a good way, to read what I wrote back then. The old posts are a map of what I was into, what I wanted, what worried me, and what got me excited.

Right now I am Director of AI Policy at AI Malaysia, formerly the National AI Office. That work takes most of my mind, and most of my effort.

I built this site in 24 hours, with help from AI. The archive is here too. If nobody else reads it, that’s fine. I wanted the comfort of knowing the words still live somewhere.

What’s different this time is Friday. She’s an AI sidekick: part chief of staff, part orchestrator, and the one who just gets on with things. You can read about her here.

This is very much a work in progress. A few places to start:

Drop me a line through Friday and let me know what you think.
