Testing my new camera (and improving my stroke)

I bought a new camera today, an Olympus Mju Tough 8010. It’s a waterproof camera and I’m having so much fun with it. I want to record and document as much of my journey as possible and it’s perfect for video and still work.

See the video below.

In the meantime, I’ve been reading up on swimming technique and I downloaded a PDF by Terry Loughlin of Total Immersion Swimming fame.

One thing I got from the PDF as well as Terry’s video is to position to head properly. My head has always been a problem as it’s always tense and I can’t seem to relax it enough. One tip  got was to imagine a laser line extending from the top of my head and pointing straight ahead. To do this, I have to make sure my eyes are looking straight down. When I do, I find my body seems to follow suit and it doesn’t rock as much. Before this, I was all over the place. You can see what I mean in the video.

I’ve still got a lot of work to do as far as my swimming technique goes and I’m having a lot of fun improving it, especially with my new toy.

More video’s can be expected from now on…..
