MUSINGS AND THOUGHTS

OK. I have been neglecting writing here for a few days. So now I have to make a quick recap of the activities during the day. Before I do that, the book ‘ReActivate Your Life – How To Make Changes And Achieve Anything You Want In Your Life’ that I’m writing is going well and my new website will be launched next week. I’ve also been working on some audio recording as well as articles about some of the principles I’m going to include in the book.

The other exciting thing is that I have registered as a contributor to ezinearticles.com. I’m still a novice at writing and this is one of the steps I’m taking to improve my writing. Have a look there if you have the time.

MUSINGS AND THOUGHT

‘REACTIVATE YOUR LIFE – HOW TO MAKE CHANGES AND ACHIEVE ANYTHING YOU WANT IN YOUR LIFE’

I am writing a book. There, I said it. I’ve been mulling the idea of penning down what I’ve learnt over the years that has enabled to me to make some major and extra-ordinary changes in my life. I began to write about 2 weeks ago and frankly speaking I didn’t know what to write and how to write it. There’s been days wen I would sit down and stare at the monitor without a clue of what to write about. Recently, the ideas just kept flowing in and them more I write, the more the ideas would come.

I don’t want this to be a conventional book and I am striving to make it different, if not in thee way it is written then in the way I write it. So I’ve decided to start releasing excerpts from the book. The first one can be found on the ReActivate Your Life Facebook Fan Page for the book. Have a read of it. It’s called, ‘Why some changes are doomed to fail’.

MUSINGS AND THOUGHTS

A strange thing happened to me in the pool tonight. I wanted to go swimming after my bike and run workout today. As I was stretching and warming up before getting into the pool, I saw someone getting lessons from the swim coach at the club. I was getting really fascinated by him as I can see that he was really putting his heart and soul into each stroke. I was really getting inspired watching him learn how to swim and was just thinking that I need to get back into that mode if I’m going to improve my swimming.

SWIM

I have a love hate affair with swimming and tonight was the hate part of the relationship. I probably spend more time in the pool these days than I do on the bike or running. What frustrates me most is that I don’t seem to be improving. It’s almost as if everytime I take one step forward I take a giant leap back. Well, tonight I had a bit of a blow up during the triathlon swimming workout and I walked out of the pool and went home.

MUSINGS AND THOUGHTS

In yesterdays dailies, I wrote about the concept of chunking large things into smaller things so that it becomes easier to handle. Well that’s also the strategy I’m adopting for my triathlon training. Triathlons are a multi discipline sport which consists of the swim, cycling and running. Each of the three disciplines presents its own challenges to me as all three of them has it’s own technique to master (even running).

MUSINGS AND THOUGHTS

I went to see Malaysia’s Armed Forces – Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) Triathlon today. I had registered for it earlier but decided not to do it for fear of the swim portion. Nevertheless I went to see and to learn as part of my preparation for the PD Triathlon which is a few days over 50 days from today.

It was quite an experience and I did learn a lot. The swim portion is by far the weakest of the disciplines for me. I think the idea of swimming non-stop without any rest kinda got to me. The swim portion was 1.5km today and it looked so far. Quite a few swimmers got stung by jellyfish and had to drop out. A few others suffered from cramps and also had to drop out.

GULP!

MUSINGS AND THOUGHTS

I’ve been busy preparing for a talk I’m going to give tomorrow called ‘My Journey from Cameraman to Photographer’. Photography is my other passion and it’s something deeply personal to me. I keep another blog called Reza Ali The Right Eye (or I used to keep it, now it’s been left idle for awhile). To prepare for the talk I went through a lof of my pictures dating back to 2006. It sure brought back a lot of memories. I have stopped taking pictures for about 18 months now and now I feel the urge to get creative again. I’m going to pick up my camera and go walkabout I think.

Today was a hard day which consisted of 3 workouts; Core Workout, Bike Interval and Run Intervals

BRICK BIKE/RUN WORKOUT

It’s the weekend which is usually time to get some long workouts in. And the saturday workout didn’t disappoint. I did a brick Bike/Run workout today- 40km on the bike and 30 minutes running.

BIKE

The bike workout is the longest one I’ve done so far. This wasn’t a time trial and I wanted to ride at a low heart rate and just focus on getting the distance and time in. I was on the bike for 109 minutes and it felt like an eternity.

I burnt about a thousand calories in the process which is great for my weight loss. Though my heart rate was under control at about 61% MHR my legs were truly burning and I was literally counting down the metres. I felt like I was going at a snail’s pace and wanted to stop. But I plodded on and managed to complete the workout. I did have a break in the middle for 10 minutes just to stretch my legs. Now it’s time for the 10 minutes transition run.
