WEEKLY LOG 9 MAY – 15 MAY 2011

Another week has gone by. This would be my 14th Weekly Log. 9 weeks till the PD triathlon.7 weeks to get my act together and 2 weeks to taper and prepare for the race.

This is how my week went.

Monday Swim
Tuesday Core Workout and Brick Bike/Run
Wednesday Core Workout, Cross Train and Run
Thursday Pre-Race Prep and Run
Friday Bike, Run and Swim
Saturday Brick Bike/Run
Sunday Run

SWIM

My focus in swimming is to develop my bilateral breathing technique which is atrocious at the moment. Though it’s better than before it’s still a clumsy affair for me to breath on my left side. I would love to be able to just cruise along and breath on both sides. This is a matter of practice, practice and more practice.

BIKE

I made 1 significant leap this week as far as my cycling is concerned. On saturday’s bike workout I spent my longest bike workout, 109 minutes and covered 43km in that time. An extremely slow time but  nevertheless satisfying. It did feel like an eternity to ride for that long and it’s something that I now have to get used to.

I also made several interval workouts on the bike which I remember to be really tough. Intervals on the bike is a new thing for me and I am only beginning to get used to it (actually I’m still not used to it). With 9 weeks left my focus will be to make sure I can do the bike leg in one piece and not mess up my running. during the triathlon.

RUN

I’ve been focussing a lot on intervals, fartleks and hill workouts as part of my efforts to bring my running to the next level. I wrote on sunday’s Daily Log that I can feel myself getting faster though I know I am still holding myself back. Come to think of it, I have never actually given my all during the race environment. Maybe it’s time to let go and just run. The Larian Hari Keputeraan Sultan Azlan Shah which is coming up this weekend would be a good time to test my running.
